I thought that I had seen everything that Microsoft can do but yesterday I was blown away. My wife asked me to look at her computer because she said it was installing something. Sure enough it was installing windows 10 and removing windows 7. My first thought was that she did click on it without knowing it. She said “all I did was turn on my computer.” Now as a computer tech I hear this all the time from customers. They get tricked into downloading something and swear it was not their fault. I tried to decline the install but there was no way to stop it. After the install I reverted her computer back to windows 7.
Microsoft will give you 30ty days to easily roll your system back to it’s original operating system. There are two problems that I have found with my customers and my wife. After rolling my wife’s computer back to windows 7 a message popped up saying that her copy of windows 7 was counterfeit. It was not counterfeit but it took an hour on the phone with Microsoft to clear things up. I would expect the average user to have problems as this process is complicated. The other problem is sometimes you do not get 30ty days to change back.I have seen computers that after two days that option was gone. This means a fresh install of windows 7.
Yesterday the same thing happened to my computer. After windows 10 installed I rolled it back and so far no counterfeit message. My feeling is if I buy an operating system I should be able to keep it as long as it keeps doing what I want it to do. Somewhere in the fine print I’m sure Microsoft has the right to do this. It comes in as an update which we all agree to if we want to keep out computer safe. If windows 10 was a good operating system it would not be so bad. As with all mew operating systems it takes awhile to work out all the problems. Windows 10 is not there yet. Other people seem to love windows 10 and would never go back. The good news is that after awhile they will get all the problems solved. The bad news is just about that time they will announce the new windows 11 is coming out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
