Well if you do an internet search for “computer services” or “computer repair” and choose one from the first page, you can be guaranteed to be charged the highest price possible. This does not mean that the service is bad, only that you are paying the highest price. Search engines sell ad placement based on how much a company is willing to pay. At this time and ad for computer repair on Google will cost that company $5.25 for every time someone clicks on that ad. Just by clicking on the ad the company is billed at $5.25. They may not get the job and it can just be someone who is curious, but it still will cost the company $5.25. This type of advertising can cost a company thousands of dollars in one month.
So how can a company pay so much money for advertising? Usually these companies advertise on all major search engines. I know some companies that pay upwards of $10,000 a month just for internet search placement. They don’t pay it, the people who hire them pay for the advertising by paying more for their services. What about people like me who pay almost nothing for advertising? I work from my home office, and my clients are made up of customers that I have acquired over the last ten years. I am Microsoft certified, state licensed, I have an A+ rating with the better business bureau and I am a former computer science teacher at the college level. I do most of my advertising on Craigslist. Until two months ago advertising on Craigslist for services was free. Everyone who could turn on a computer was advertising their computer service for hire. As soon as Craigslist started charging $5 for a service ad they all stopped advertising.
For a charge of $5 dollars most of them just stopped advertising. It’s because these people were not professional computer technicians. They were just people who had a little knowledge, a little time and why not throw up a free ad. If you are the type of person who needs a brick and mortar business location and don’t mind paying more, they are all over the place. Most of them will do a good job for their customers.
