The top five things you should know about windows 10

Sep 20, 2018

  1. Do not rely on a system restore point if you are using windows 10 as your operating system. For some reason windows 10 updates will wipe out your restore points.
  2. If your windows 10 computer starts running slowly or locks up, all is not lost. When you reinstall windows 10 it automatically saves your files, pictures, documents, music, videos, downloads and desktop to a folder called “Windows 10 old”. After installing the new copy just open the windows 10 old file and copy and paste the files to the correct folders. If your hard drive crashes this will not work because all the files are on the old hard drive.
  3. Just because your hard drive crashes does not mean your files are not still accessible. You may be able to retrieve them using a hard drive enclosure. You will need to reinstall all programs that were lost. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
  4. Microsoft has made a free copy available for windows 10 users. You simply sign up, sign in and you can use Microsoft Word and Excel for free. Your files are stored online. If you want the full version it is $6.99 a month at this time.
  5. Windows 10 updates can be difficult to install sometimes. The best thing to do if the updates fail is to re-boot and try again. You may need to try several times. Make sure you are not trying to update after the hours you have set to update. If your settings are 8 AM to 6 Pm your computer will only update between those hours.
  6. I will be happy to answer any other windows 10 problems that may arise. larry@computerdoctorboise.com  If you would be so kind as to give me a good review on Google it will be appreciated. Just find computer doctor boise online and write a review. Thank you.
