I have been using Craigslist to advertise my computer repair business for years. I also have sold Internet businesses and repossessed bank owned vehicles using Craigslist. This Internet classified is a giant and all others pale in comparison. Backpage.com, oodle, sell.com the list is a mile long. These other Internet classifieds are almost worthless. So it seems almost to good to be true that in addition to being the largest classified most listings are FREE! As with most good things there can also be a downside. Craigslist has more rules and regulations then the US tax code.
When you try and do an Internet search on say “How to use Craigslist.” there is no shortage of articles. Unfortunately most of these articles are either out of date, just a scam to sell you something or someone who just really provides bad information. Entrepreneurs who use Craigslist just have to learn the hard way. The problem is that just about the time you are finally starting to use the things you have learned Craigslist changes the rules. Today the buzz word for all Internet businesses is “Fresh Content.”
I made it a goal of mine to find a way to not only maximize Craigslist advertising but to also stay ahead of the changes. Yes after 10 years I made contact with someone who actually works for Craigslist in the bay area. It is a small group of people as most of the operation is automated.
