After 20 years working in the computer field I believe that it has reached the point where average users cannot keep up. Sure there has always been a certain amount of knowledge required, but not like today. Microsoft has been grooming the public to know some of the basics that an average user needs to know to keep keep up with new advancements. Today the knowledge required to just keep the computer running is way beyond what an average user should need to know. My description of an average user is someone that might surf the web, use Facebook, run some business programs, download some music and so on.
When the public buys a Microsoft product like windows 10 or Microsoft office they should expect Microsoft to keep these programs free from malware and virus attacks. Users should not have to know when to roll back an update, or know when and how how to update their drivers and other skills needed to keep things running well. Fortunately just about any problem can be solved by using a YouTube video. The problem may come when your YouTube advice is wrong, or the user asks the wrong question. Anyone wanting a good basic guide about how to most effectively use YouTube please ask and I will provide a guide that I have used for many years. larry@computerdoctorboise.com
