When someone contacts me for advice on what computer is right for them they often say “I don’t need anything fancy.” Some people have a better idea of what they need, gaming, CAD, photo editing and so on. To start with I don’t know what fancy really means. I most cases they are just trying to say they go to Amazon, YouTube, Craigslist and Facebook and other commonly used websites. Almost any modern laptop will meet these needs, but some are going to get to these sites faster. My advice for the nothing fancy buyer is make sure that they get something with a solid state hard drive, 16 gigs of ram and a processor that is 8th generation or newer. These days solid state hard drives and ram are expensive. These days people don’t need large hard drives with so many free storage options out there. Stay with a 256Gig solid state hard drive and at least 12 gigs of ram. Things that most buyers don’t think about is the type of screen display they really want. I’m not talking about the size of the screen, most people know what they need there. I am talking about a glossy screen or a matte screen. Glossy screens have a sharper and often brighter image. Matte screens have a matte finish that is designed to defuse some of the outside light. The matte screen is not as affected by the glare of your surroundings. If you are into videos or vivid pictures the glossy screen might be what you need. If you use the computer in lots of different locations and don’t want to deal with possible glare the matte display might be right for you.
If you are into gaming, auto cad or photo rendering you need to be clear about what you really want your PC to do. You can always decide to buy the fastest PC out there if money is not an issue. If you are not sure what to buy send me an Email. There are some pacific things that you may not be able to do without.
